August 24th 2012 Welcome Melanie and Jenn. Let’s. Get Weird. We huddled in Charlie’s room, sitting in a potent cloud of perfume and hairspray, ready to escort our out-of-town visitors to an odd evening of New York City shenanigans. We were on a desperate endeavor to produce another episode of what we like to call “Weirdfest … Continue reading

About Me

Hey.

This is my face.

This is my face.

.

My name is Olive. I’m a 24 year old Wasian who talks and writes entirely too much. I’m currently employed as an in-house copywriter under the Vanity Fair Corporation in New York City with past experiences at O, The Oprah Magazine and Calvin Klein Inc.

.

And you know what else?

.

I’ve got stories. Lots of them.

.

Some bizarre.

.

Some inspirational.

.

Some entertaining.

.

All true.

.

Why?

.

Because I’ve written every day for the last 10 years collecting these bad bitches along the way.

.

So I decided to create a storytelling blog about “All Of The People” that have inspired, amazed and mostly humored me through my journey of life thus far. Hence “Olive The People.”

.

But only because.

.

I want to be the person that makes you feel uncomfortable in your cubicle/in public because you’re laughing so damn hard.

.

I want to be the person that makes you think about this shenanigan called life. And then make you think about it again. Just.a.little.bit.differently.

.

I want to be the person that makes you crave adventure, revel in amusement and become addicted to inspiration.

.

Or.

.

Just appreciate the people that do.

.

And finally.

.

I want to be your damn friend.

.

Because I think we’d be awesome at that.

.

So I guess what I’m trying to say is.

.

My name is Olive, and I believe in living a life worth writing about. And hell, one worth reading about too. I’m having the time of my life, and you’re welcome to join me.

.

Some sort of regards,

Olive  The People

The Devil Wears A Purple Clutch

June 14th 2011 There I was. 1 purple clutch in hand. In the pouring rain. And Gayle King was waiting for me. 15 minutes on the clock. Ready? Set? Run. Rewind. It started like any other ordinary day in the Oprah Magazine fashion closet. Send this. Organize that. Steam this. …Steam this again. When suddenly … Continue reading

March 2nd 2011 breath. Deep People do this all the time. You’ll nail it. Well, you better nail it. Get dressed. Look nice. But not too nice. Not like the “I’m trying too hard” nice. But the “I’m the one you want” nice. To the closet>>>>> Mmm…not that one. Not that one either… Yes! Stop! … Continue reading

His Turkey Burger Mistake

July 7th 2012 It was approximately 3:36am. Taxis were patrolling the streets for unruly locals, pizza slices were making their late night debut, and the bars were closing, but not…yet. This bitch doesn’t close down until I say it does. …Nevermind I sounded like a total tool when I said that. Let me try  that … Continue reading

What You Said In Room 117

July 16th 2009 So there was this delusional time in my life when I was all like “OMG MED SCHOOL” And it rested in that contemplative period between “What the fuck do I want to do with my life and “What the FUCK do I want to do with my life.” I was: Broke Directionless Confused and … Continue reading

August 4th 2012 Happy Birthday Harper. We made our debut on this fine, Saturday afternoon at a bottomless brunch at the Agave restaurant in lower Manhattan. The first scene of our brunch was reminiscent of a slow motion “Sex and the City” montage that looked like this: Bountiful margaritas, bloody maries, extra strong mimosas, heads … Continue reading

August 6th, 2011 It was a heat drenched day down in Soho. The air was thick, the breeze was minimal and the conversation was absolutely refreshing.   A friend  and I decided to take a leisurely stroll. We reminisced about the ridiculous shenanigans that ensued over the summer. Some involving deli meat and vodka, others … Continue reading
